FAQ

Do You Do Weddings?

Yes we certainly do!  The approach and execution and price point of a Wedding Video service is very different from a short film for a small business or organization.  For a start, it’s always a two-camera shoot to ensure we cover all the bases in this one-take-only, high-pressure situation. Please get in contact to discuss Weddings – as ever that discussion is without any kind of obligation.  Be assured the costs are very competitive compared to the majority of Wedding Video providers and the results are – like everything Feelgood Footage delivers – of the very highest quality.

OK I was actually not interested in a Wedding Video – I’m more interested in something for my business, group, organization or a bespoke project…

Well then please keep reading!

Why do I need a film?

For exactly the same reasons you have spent time working on your website, ordering stationary, paying for advertising and trying to spread word of mouth – adding a short film to  your site develops your brand and adds a whole new layer of professionalism and class to your presentation.  Nothing beats speaking with people, in person, to talk about what you can offer them in terms of products and services. However meeting people is not always an option – certainly at the initial stage when a potential client is looking at options and choosing between several possible providers.  If that’s the case a short film is the next best thing because it allows for the spoken word delivered via moving pictures.  Nothing inspires more confidence than seeing and hearing – only a film allows those two elements to be simultaneously combined.  Imagine someone looking at site A and site B – both offering broadly similar services.  Site A describes what they do with text and the odd photograph perhaps.  Site B does so with the same PLUS provides a well produced, concise, honest message or two via film detailing a little bit about the people behind the business and allowing the potential client to really see and hear just why they should consider them, not a competitor.  Which site would you expect to foster a greater sense of trust?

What’s involved in filming – is it intrusive?
No, absolutely not. I work alone.  My equipment is a small camera and tripod, plus a few gadgets.  I would obviously film at a time that suits you.  I would generally aim to film everything we need in half a day (although filming could be spread over a couple of sessions if that’s more practical).

If there is just one person doing everything, how do you get such a high-end look?
Simply put, experience, expertise and creativity.  I have been filming with and directing professional broadcast cameramen and editors for a decade, producing short video films for TV shows in this country and across the world. I have always loved putting these together and over the years have developed the skill set required – in terms of filming and editing – to be able to bring it altogether at this point in my life.  I know how to tell stories with moving pictures – and that is essentially what we are doing, telling the story of YOUR business in such a way as to entice potential clients through your doors, or at least to pick-up the phone or ping off an email.

Is it important for me to be in front of camera?
My general opinion is “YES!”, at least at some point.  What we’re trying to do with the film – because it allows movement and sound – is bring the human aspect of the business to life.  And the central human being in the business is the owner/founder/driving force of that business.  Not everyone is a natural in front of the camera, that’s absolutely true – but no one has to be perfect.  We have the time to get what we need – and editing ensures we only use the best material. Everything else is forgotten and never seen!  We won’t be talking about world affairs, politics and religion… we will be talking about your business. And it is 100% cast-iron guaranteed that NO-ONE anywhere in the world knows more about, or cares more about your business – and will do anything within reason to make it succeed – than you! If we can capture just a fraction of that passion on camera we are on to a winner.

How long would it take to edit?
I would aim to have a version you could look at and approve within a week.

What if I want to change things?
The client always knows best!  It is very easy to make changes. If additional filming were required we’d do that.

Music – I already have some tracks in mind that would work for my business/website…
Music can be an important part of any film – but there are restrictions involved in using music in a commercial context.  We have options which we can discuss fully during an initial meeting.

How is the film delivered?
How would I put it on my page?
We will film in High Definition (HD) – but uncompressed HD footage is not suitable for the web (the files are way too big).  So the edited video needs to be ‘compressed’ for web so that the video streams (plays back) smoothly.  Of course, I will do this.  Then it needs to be integrated into your site.  There is a very straightforward way to do this – it’s called ‘embedding’ (all the video clips that appear on the feelgood site are of this type).  The person who looks after your site should be able to embed your film in a minute.  Again, I can advise you on this if required.  After completion I will present your film to you as a CD at full-quality.

As well as featuring my film on my site could I use it on You Tube as well?

Yes, absolutely.  I would actively encourage you to start a You Tube channel for your business – it’s very easy and completely free. The film we deliver can then be uploaded there as well. This increases the reach of the films.

Cost
Video production – especially anything to do with business – has traditionally been very expensive. Since I have very limited overheads, I can offer my services at a highly competitive rate.  So right now, as a guide price, I am charging from £500 for edited video content of up to 3-minutes duration (with principal filming taking place in one session). I am not VAT registered so this is the total. This fee does not include music rights clearance if this is required (about £100+ VAT and passed on at cost).

OK I am definitely interested – what do I do next?

Simply get in touch, including any questions you might have, and I’ll do my level best to answer them.  Then we can schedule a preliminary meeting to take things forward and start making your film a reality.
